Courses 2009

Dear fellow Scoutlinkscouts,

There seems to be a lot of uncertainty about the courses that HATT provide. In this mail I would like to explain it to you all.

ChanOp

All (temp) ChanOp should receive training. If you are a permanent operator this should be done only once and then everytime there is a need to, this up to the CC's/RC's discretion. Tempops receive a training every year, but exceptions for veterans can be made after agreement with us.

For Channeloperators HATT has developed a new system, that reduces the amount of time spent on the course on both user as trainer sides. The system is fully explained in this document:

http://www.scoutlink.net/sites/default/files/HATT-COURSE.ppt

More information can also be found on

IRCops
All (temp)IRCops should receive training as well. If you are a permanent operator this should be done only once and then everytime there is a need to, this up to the CC's/RC's discretion. Tempops receive a training every year, but exceptions for veterans can be made after agreement with me.
Please notice that there will be very limited amount of IRCop courses available! The IRCops will get a classic course, and will be held only when we've got registered participants. Also make sure that your O:Line is working before you come to the course!!!

How to enroll

Individual operators can no longer contact HATT directly. CC's or RC's need to gather all (temp)Ops that need training this year for this JOTI. It's important that we receive this information before

Friday October 2nd 2009.

After that, it will only be possible to register for a course on a very exceptional base provided there is a good reason for not sending the information earlier.

Contact your CC/RC to make sure you're on his/her list!

Information for CC's RC's:

Please provide only the names of those who need training not of all your operators. Otherwise it takes us a large amount of time to process. I cannot stress enough that training is very important for a smooth running of JOTI, so please make sure your operators have enough time to follow a course by handing in the information file as soon as possible. Please include the following information: nickname, firstname, lastname, email, city and country and if possible put everything into an excel or openoffice calc worksheet.

Untrained operators are a nuisance to the JOTI organisation, remember the P5 rule:

"Propper preperation prevents poor performance"

Let's all make this a wonderfull, smooth-running, green JOTI by getting our operators prepared for the task at hand!

Yours in Scouting and Guiding,
